Now in glorious Technicolor, or not

sherry_0002

A view from the Accademia Bridge in Venice, sketched quickly using a thick marker pen before my family got too bored.

Marker pen with carbon ink, A4

As an experiment I used a photo taken at the same time to add colour with ink washes. And finally removed the colour altogether, reducing it to tonal values.

Less is more? Or less is less?

All three are effective in different ways, but if I had to vote, I like the color one followed by the line drawing. Ah, Venice… this scene brings me fond memories of a trip in 2006!

Thanks Tina. I think I like the lines best, then the colour, then the grey. It’s the first time I’ve used a reference photo, a useful trick to use next time I’m rushed!
