Apples and beets
More domestic than urban, some quick pencil and watercolour sketches from the late night kitchen, trying to break my over-reliance on dilute Lexington grey for tone/shadow! Although the grey ink wash is very fast and effective for quick shadows, it can make … Continue reading
Apples and shelves
The evenings are drawing in, so there’ll be more interior sketches for a few months… Here are recently harvested apples and kitchen shelves, all done with my new preferred kit (Kuretake #40 brush-pen with Lexington grey for line, dilute LG ink in fine … Continue reading
A slice of life
It was stone cold by the time I’d finished drawing it, and tastier than it looks. Mmm, jalapenos… Lexington grey in fountain pen and water-brush, watercolour, A5 – 30 mins
One bad apple
Another go at mostly painting, just using pencil lines for the overall shape and some pens for the lettering on the sticker. I usually add water-colour at the end of a sketch, after establishing line and shade with ink. Here it … Continue reading
Sushi, again
Back at Yen Sushi for another lovely lunch. From the top there’s green tea, steamed rice, aubergine salad, spinach with peanut sauce, and teriyaki prawns. I ate lots more but it didn’t hang around long enough to be drawn. Below … Continue reading
Late night snacks
Some late night table-top sketches, keeping up the daily drawing commitment; a square glass mug of oolong, a bunch of bananas, and almond butter and jam on oatcakes with a glass of milk…yum. I was very tired by the time I did these and … Continue reading

Saucy
More foul weather so some domestic sketching in the kitchen; oils, spices and condiments on a recessed shelf, and all-sorts on a work-top. I used a broad fountain pen for the line, but loaded with dilute grey ink so it doesn’t … Continue reading

3 lemons, 2 bowls and a bug
A slightly tired lemon from the fridge, with some zest sliced off for a cake. Note the tiny red bug accidentally squashed between the pages. Blue and brown Pigma pens, water-brush with Lexington grey water-brush, watercolour, A6 – 20 minutes … Continue reading
