Bird’s eye view

Three sketches from the Urban Sketchers Bristol/South West group visit to Bath last weekend. We spent an hour in the Abbey tower and on the roof, enjoying wonderful views over the city centre, and after lunch sketched in the adjacent square. First there’s a busker and his audience (an unfamiliar view of this favourite sketching haunt!), then looking West over roof-tops towards the Circus from the roof parapet, and finally the busker’s audience from ground level. It was lovely to spend the day with fellow sketchers, and thanks to the Abbey for hosting (their regular tower tours are highly recommended!).

The usual suspects…

Oh! Great! I wish we had something like that here in Bonn/Germany … and don’t say, “I just need to organize it myself” 🙂 I can already hear you taking a breathe for it 🙂 My municipal evening class “Urban Sketching” was just cancelled, because only 2 people registered for it. And there’s so much to draw here in the ex-capital of West Germany.

Ditto the recommendation for the Tower tours, a very good time was had by all.
    Fab sketches, Ed, as ever!

It is tricky… Jules and Charlotte have done the leg-work to get our group going, without people to curate the Facebook page/organise meet-ups it doesn’t happen. And I’m always surprised by the general lack of sketchers out and about… I went to Istanbul twice, each time for a week of almost continuous urban sketching, and only ever saw one other sketcher; he was a Brit! Have you searched the Urban Sketchers directory? It lists two sketchers in Bonn and they might know other local groups? Good luck!
