Father’s Day

P1220759

My father painted last year by me. I went straight in with water-colour for a change, and the facial features are pleasingly soft/blurred as they were done ‘wet on wet’.

Watercolour, A4

Below is a drawing of me by my daughter. There’s an obvious resemblance to my father; bald, glasses. I’m joined by Hester from ‘Mortal Engines’ and Orbix Xaxis from the ‘The Edge Chronicles’, two book series that we both enjoy. ‘Eleanor’s Secret’ is a beautiful French animation.

Ed fantastic stuff! Love your daughters work! Reminds me of a couple of things one is an episode of the Simpsons where Marge says to Lisa that children can be so cruel and Bart says ‘Can we?’
And an incident with a friend of mine whose daughter had drawn him with no hair despite him having a fine head of admittedly greying hair and when asked why she replied ‘I didn’t have a white pencil’ – it’s Just For Men time!

Thanks Mark, the wisdom of Bart… (See also his solution to ‘one hand clapping’).
I’m trying to organise a sketch-crawl in Bath on 13th or 14th July. Would you be able to join? Ed

Love her pic of you. She’s really captured you in just a few simple lines.
